Water Supply Pipeline in the North of Spain

The cities of Santander and Torrelavega, located in the north of Spain, are supplied with water via a 40 km long water main. On its route from the Ebro reservoir to the cities, the pipeline has to overcome ­elevations of up to 735 m. At five points in the pipeline, pump stations were installed to keep the water flowing.  

Already at an early stage in this project, VAG’s project engineers were consulted to provide advice on the selection of valves, the delivery and installation of the valves. Due to the great differences in altitude and the pressures generated in the pipelines due to this fact, VAG RIKO® Plunger Valves of a nominal pressure of PN 100 were installed.

The extremely tight project schedule
became another great challenge. A mere six months after the customer had placed his order, the valves were delivered.
