Products: VAG ZETA® Knife-Gate Valves DN 1200 with DREHMO actuators
For as many as 90 years, the Fuhlenseebrücke, the most important wastewater pipeline of Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein’s state capital, has been running right through the middle of lakeside lowlands. In a construction project which was spectacular even by today’s standards, a 220-metre-long beam bridge was erected in 1931, as the construction of a conventional services trench on the boggy subsoil would only have been feasible with unreasonable expenditure.
The complete wastewater of the city of Kiel is taken to the Bülk wastewater treatment plant through the two DN 1200 glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) pipelines.
VAG supplied four VAG ZETA® Knife-Gate Valves DN 1200 with DREHMO actuators here. These were installed in the tubular bridge in November 2024. As the wastewater pipeline is located in a bird sanctuary, works can only be carried out in winter. The knife-gate valves are used as safety devices here to be able to shut off the pipelines in both directions.
