Modernization of the Želivka Water Treatment Plant

The Želivka Water Treatment Plant is one of the most important water management complexes in the Czech Republic. It supplies drinking water to the capital city of Prague and extensive areas of the Central Bohemian Region and the Vysočina Region. Given the increasing demands for water quality and the need to eliminate new types of potential pollution, the plant has undergone significant modernization in recent years. This modernization included a new pumping station ensuring water inflow, large-diameter outdoor pipeline distributions as well as modifications to some existing structures of the treatment plant, allowing for the integration of new technology into the existing infrastructure.

As a leading manufacturer of waterworks valves, VAG supplied key components essential for the reliable operation of the new technological stage of the treatment plant. VAG is one of the most important valve suppliers for the water management sector, not only in the Czech Republic but also across Europe.

In total, VAG delivered more than 150 shut-off and check valves of various types and sizes, including large-scale shut-off valves DN 2400 to the Želivka project.
