Life-saving freedom from maintenance

“In the context of the extension of our fire station in 2022, we deliberately opted for the VAG NOVA NIRO 365 standpost hydrant, as it is the most modern standpost hydrant in the German market. On top of that, its modern design with the stainless-steel column perfectly matches the design of our modern fire station,” says Gunther Hoffmann, mayor of the municipality of Neulussheim. “Before the reconstruction we used a VAG HYDRUS Underground Hydrant which was in reliable service for many years. And so it was only logical for us to rely on the VAG brand again.”

This modern hydrant made by VAG convinces due to its high reliability of function, freedom from maintenance all year round, excellent corrosion protection and ease of operation. This makes it perfectly suitable for use in municipal fire-water supply.

Sascha Langlotz, commander of the Neulussheim fire brigade, is impressed by how easily the hydrant can be operated: “The hydrant has been in service since 2023 and is used regularly during our weekly fire drills. It is especially the low operating torque that our colleagues appreciate. Even though we operate the hydrant a lot more frequently than is usually the case, the forces needed to open and close the hydrant are still as low as on the first day.”

The “encapsulated bearing” system is a novelty in Germany. The special axial needle bearings significantly reduce the operating torque and in combination with a hygienically encapsulated grease deposit, the system becomes maintenance-free. In addition to this, the patented bearing of the actuating components prevents the inner components from coming into contact with the medium. This makes the VAG NOVA NIRO 365 optimal in terms of drinking water hygiene.
