In the period from 2005 to 2009, a new drinking water supply system for the city of Harbin was established. The water transport pipeline running from the Mopanshan reservoir to the city of Harbin was thelongest in the north-east of China at that time.

Two 180 km long parallel pipelines now supply the city’s 10 million inhabitants with drinking water.

Each of the pipelines runs from the Mopanshan reservoir through a water treatment plant and directly to the city’s supply network.

The difference in altitude between the reservoir and the treatment plant is over 120 metres.

The two water treatment plants have a total daily treatment capacity of 900,000 litres of water.
To be able to control the water pressure and the flow rate over the entire distance and to compensate for the slope, VAG Plunger Valves with an internal diameter of 1.60 m were installed.
