150 Years of VAG!

The special anniversary of VAG found its climax in a large family celebration on the site of the headquarters in Mannheim. The team showed all guests, including celebrities from politics, what makes VAG special and why we can be so proud of our 150-year history.

In his speech at the ceremony, Mannheim's Lord Mayor, Dr. Peter Kurz, recalled the importance of the company for Mannheim's industrial history and was extremely pleased about the gift that VAG's CEO Dr. Jan Nopper presented on behalf of all employees: a VAG NOVA NIRO 365 standpost hydrant for a city fire station. As a gift to ourselves, the streets on the factory have been given their own names. The unveiling by the First Mayor Christian Specht and CFO Robert A. Heiss was accompanied with the applause of hundreds of guests at a ceremony.

During the subsequent tours in all halls and many highlights, such as a presentation by labour union IG Metall on the development of working conditions in cooperation with the works council, the exhibition of the world's first automobile from Mannheim from 1886 and a journey through the history of VAG, the guests were able to enjoy all day long. For our little guests there were fire brigade demonstrations and a huge bouncy castle, face painting and an exciting family puzzlehunt. Other highlights included a show of the cheerleading group from the local Carnewal Club Waldhof and a food mile that had everything to offer, from valve burgers to RIKO-bowls or Reuther waffles.

All in all: a great birthday celebration with the best guests: our employees and their families.

Happy Birthday VAG!
